TAFE Outreach programs are closely aligned to the Federal Social Inclusion Agenda ensuring NSW education is accessible to people who face barriers to learning including geographical and social isolation, language and cultural factors, financial hardship, lack of educational confidence, being unaware of opportunities to learn, a disability or family commitments.

Teacher Qualities

It is extremely important that the teachers involved in this program be highly suitable to work with youth.
The teachers selected to work on this program are dynamic and experienced in working with young people, particularly those who are vulnerable and who are at risk of becoming marginalised, without adequate skills for work, thereby leading to social isolation.
The teachers have established extensive networks of government and non government services who can come on board to provide specific services and support according to the needs of the particular cohort of students. They are committed to connecting the students with their local community by enabling ways to participate, create opportunities for success and foster a sense of belonging.
The teachers are skilled in helping the students to navigate their way around the vocational education and training system so that students have the knowledge and confidence to pursue areas of study or training of their choice.
